Season of Prayer and Fasting: Belfast and Beyond
II Chronicles 7:14-15
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”
Responding to the call to prayer put forth in scripture, the AAC and ACN are joining in a Season of Prayer and Fasting, beginning Monday January 24, surrounding the meeting of the Primates in Belfast Ireland, February 21-26.The subsequent forty days for prayer and fasting are especially appropriate “for such a time as this” as the leaders of the Anglican Communion gather to discern a way forward following considerations by the Windsor Report.
Those who choose to participate are encouraged to join the Season of Prayer and Fasting at anytime, seeking the Lord’s direction. Participants are encouraged to fast at their own discretion and to use the Daily Office Readings, Year 1 (see below) as a prayer guide for scriptural readings.
Both the AAC and the ACN have blessed this journey of fasting and prayer beginning on Monday, January 24 at 12:01 am and concluding Friday, March 04 at 11:59pm.Other Anglican groups around the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain are in support of this unique season and are also encouraging prayer for the Primates of the Anglican Church and for open hearts of Anglican and Episcopal Leaders.
Additionally, the Prayer Intercessory team has joined the “Adopt a Primate for Prayer” program in the effort to prayerfully cover each of the Primates of the Anglican Communion beginning January 24 and continuing through March 4. Those who wish to intercede for the Primates are encouraged to choose a specific Primate and to pray daily for that individual.
